Its not disappointing anyone. If people want it, they will pay for it. That is what the game console is evoling into now. Accept it. The advantage of being free is still there, so I don’t get why you say “WTF.” At least wait until Sony announces what content they plan to offer before criticizing. This isn’t gonna affect the people who want the free stuff; its not going anywhere.
I think this is going to be no different than paying for a subscription to Qore. Subscribers to Qore get access to exclusive behind the scenes content, free* games and other content, and access to exclusive betas. Its sounds like they are going to be adding a lot more content and services to the PSN, and that is a GOOD THING! It will still be free to play online, which is the main advantage of using the PSN, you don’t have to pay 50 bucks a year just to enjoy multiplayer games online, video chats, or the new netflix streaming, which you not only have to be a netflix subscriber, but you have to be a Gold member to even use it on the Xbox. Xbox Silver members even have to wait to get some DLC until a week after its available to Gold members. NONE of this is going to happen with the PSN, as Kaz has already said.
Everything else on the PSN costs money, so what is it your are upset over? Almost all DLC cost $ , Movies cost $ , TV shows cost $ , Premium and Dymamic themes cost $ , PSN and PSP, and full PS3 and PSOne titles cost $ . In case you haven’t noticed we are already pay for quite a bit over PSN…
